On Friday, we went to a David Sedaris program. I was expecting it to be a book reading with him reading some chapters from his recent book, When You Are Engulfed in Flames. I was hoping he’ll read some of my favorite stories from the book. But, it was a pleasant surprise when he read new stories that he was working on currently.

  1. “When a guy walks into a smoking bar car”

  2. A story about being on book-tour that he is writing for The Newyorker.

  3. A story about current politics.

  4. Reading from his diary

  5. A story from a book he recommended highly: The Braindead Megaphone by George Saunders.

We were early for the show as there was not enough time to get dinner. After getting some drinks to get our beaks wet, we strolled towards our seats and found Sedaris signing books with no waiting line. We had a chat with him and got our books autographed. David is known to chat with everyone who goes for book-signing and his story #2 was about this aspect of his life. Overall, it was a fun evening that ended with us eating dinner at a Portuguese restaurant.
