My son is applying for a job at our town swimming pool. As the aquatic center is part of the school complex, it is a job with the school district. This 16 year old has to undergo a full background check. He had to provide his previous address from MI when he was 1 year old. 😯🙄
@parag Good thing they’re thorough, but, that’s a bit drastic. Hop he gets it!
@supremus It is good that they have the process in place for all new applicants to the school district but, it is a little excessive for a 16 year old. In some states, he can go and buy an assault rifle without that background check right now. @odd
@parag Yes, it’s pretty crazy! In my country, applicants for jobs where you work with people, may have to show a document obtained from the police, that is a verification that they have nothing on their record. Else, it’s mostly documentation from prior employment.
@parag With inconsistencies like these, not sure if the name "United" States of America still fits @supremus
@pratik The Divided States of America or DSA more accurately reflects the times.
@odd @supremus @pratik He cleared the background check and got the job. Yay! Now on to the difficult task of actually doing the work and doing it well.
@supremus My daughter made a lot of money lifeguarding but, my son doesn't want to do that. He doesn't want to be responsible for someone's life. He is going to teach swim lessons and work in the office. You have a lot of time before your daughter can lifeguard but, make sure you (or her) know what the requirements are. Sometimes, it is hard to find a convenient tim slot for training needed to become lifeguard.
@parag Great! I’m sure he’ll manage very well! It’s good to get work practice as early as possible in my mind. It demystifies the working world, and set you up for realistic expectations.
@parag Congratulations to him. Here's to learning more responsibility.
