Beautiful sunny Fall day. Felt so good to ride today.

Listened to part1 of a podcast called The Big Dig that was featured on 99%Invisible. Good historical information about the interstate highways and one of the biggest public works project in Boston.

Today’s #bikeride : Commute to home

It was a cool Fall day, cloudy and windy. Got a little chilly; wish the Sun was out.

Listened to the New Yorker Fiction podcast. I always like short stories but, the best part is the analysis of the story. They make only one episode per month. Perfect!

Explored the lakeshore communities on today’s #bikeride - aka gawking at million dollar McMansions. Safer roads than yesterday. It was another hot day but wanted to get one more ride in. Will be busy with moving my son into his dorm and orientation & such for the rest of this trip.

🚴‍♂️ On this morning’s #bikeride , mixed up some old routes to create a new one for today. The weather was fantastic and it was another great day of riding.

🚴‍♂️ Being there to take in this view is a good enough reason for riding 20 miles on the bicycle.

🚴‍♂️ From today’s #bikeride that ended with a flat tire. Didn’t have a repair kit so ended up calling my daughter to get picked up.

I am so happy with this morning’s bike ride that it doesn’t matter what happens during rest of the day. Not sure if it is the current condition of my bike or my performance but, I recorded the best time on this 20 mile ride that I have been doing for several years. My aim was to ride this route in 1 hour 10 minutes and today I completed with a minute and half to spare. I hope all of you are having a great Friday as well!!!

Pumped up the tires, lubed the chain and I was flying on today’s #bikeride . Not sure if it was the cooler temperature or just the urge to get away from work that made the difference but I bested my times from 2013 on some Strava segments. That was just insane!

Found this huge and pretty caterpillar on today’s #bikeride . After some looking around, it is from giant silk moth family (probably Hyalophora cecropia). The moths have a wingspan of 15 cms. The caterpillar was also ~15 cms long and thicker than my thumb.

It was a still windless morning - perfect for all these reflection photos on today’s #bikeride along a coastal route with intersecting rivers.

With a late start for Tour de France this morning, I had enough time to go for a longer #bikeride . Bonked at mile 21. Thankfully had a granola bar to get me back home. Here is the Strava file.

Went for a quick #bikeride this morning as I didn’t want to miss much of today’s Tour de France stage coverage on TV.

Warm and sticky #bikeride on familiar roads in East Lyme, and Old Lyme. Love how green this whole area is and how empty these backroads are. Here is the Strava file of this ride.

On the bus with my bike to go over the Gold Star bridge (I-95). The pedestrian/bicycle path along the bridge was damaged in an accident and is still under repair. Strava file of the ride.
